PUBLICATION NEWSLETTER　 12개국 50개 학계, 산업계 및 정부 기관의 연구팀들로 구성된 국제 컨소시엄, Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP)를 소개드립니다. VGP의 목표는 모든 66,000 개의 현존 척추 동물의 오류없는 reference genome assembly를 생성 하는 것으로, 최근 오리너구리 등 15종의 결과를 발표하였습니다. 모든 척추 동물의 DNA 서열을 이해하면 유전자가 종들의 진화와 생존에 어떻게 기여했는지 연구 할 수있게 될 것입니다. VGP 컨소시엄은 고품질의 “Platinum-level“ genome을 생산하기 위해 3년 동안 여러가지 technology와 workflow를 선별했으며 초기 어셈블리를 생성하기 위해 PacBio long read SMRT 시퀀싱을 선택하였습니다. VGP 이외에도 PacBio Technology로 진행되고 있는 주요 Project들을 함께 소개 드립니다.
