상대적으로 새로운 Pharmacogenomics(PGx) 분야는 개인의 genome이 약물에 대한 반응에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지 연구하여 유전적 구성에 맞는 안전하고 효과적인 약물을 개발합니다. 

약물 유전체학 검사를 통해 의료 서비스 제공자는 환자의 약물과 용량을 유전적 특성에 맞게 조정하여 결과를 개선하고 의료 비용을 줄일 수 있습니다.

PacBio의 매우 정확한 충분한 길이의 HiFi  sequencing 은  특정 약물-유전자 상호 작용에 대한 이해를 설명하고 발전시키는 데 도움이 되었으며, 이제 실행 가능한 약물 유전체학 사례가 많이 있습니다.
